Water Savings: Higher Cycles of Concentration Without Chemicals
Cooling towers lose water through evaporation and blowdown. With chemical-free water treatment by Elgressy EST, scale is removed from the water, so the tower can run at higher cycles of concentration (COC). That means less blowdown and less make-up water.
Measured result: Tec de Monterrey, Mexico
Three Elgressy EST units treated three 1,000 TR cooling towers (3,000 TR in total). Cycles of concentration rose from about 3.0 to between 4.5 and 5.5. Make-up water fell by 15% (8,836 m³ per year), and the water softeners were no longer needed, saving a further 9,000 m³ per year. In total 17,836 m³ of water was saved per year. The blowdown stayed free of treatment chemicals and suitable for irrigation.
