UNILEVER Cavite Manila EST installation

In 2018 we installed phase 1 of an Elgressy EST chemical-free cooling water treatment system at Unilever in Cavite, Manila, Philippines, with our local partner GLJM.

Results after three years

During a service visit in December 2021, GLJM cleaned the EST reactors. Unilever reported back to us:

“Lots of scales recovered from the EST and no scales found on the condenser coils.”

That is exactly how EST is meant to work: the scale collects inside the EST reactors, where it is removed during routine service, and the condenser coils stay clean.

How EST works: Elgressy EST treats a side stream of the cooling water by controlled electrolysis. Calcium hardness precipitates as solid scale inside the EST reactors and is removed, instead of depositing on chiller condensers, heat exchangers and pipes. Oxidizing species formed at the anode help control algae and biofilm, so no anti-scalants or corrosion inhibitors are needed. Read more about Elgressy EST.
